Welcome to my website!
I decided I needed one to promote my quilt workshops, lectures and patterns. My name is Lou Ann Elliott and I've been quilting for almost 20 years.
Here is a quick synopsis of my sewing life history. I started sewing when I was a child and made most of my clothes while in school. Once an adult and married, I wanted to learn to quilt; however, while living on a mountain with no electricity for ten years and raising five kids I never got the chance to learn. It's hard to see well using kerosene lamps!
After moving to Maryland I took an Adult Ed class in Beginning Quilting in 1994; loved it and was hooked. I joined the local Flying Geese Quilt Guild and became very involved as the Newsletter Editor and served terms as Vice President and President. After several years of learning everything I could regarding quilting I began teaching classes for the guild.
When my husband and I moved to Martinsburg, West Virginia I started teaching Adult Ed classes in Beginning Quilting in Berkeley County and other quilting classes for local quilt shops and guilds.
Today I specialize in teaching difficult quilt patterns and techniques, and making them seem easy for all levels of quilters. I have also branched off into designing and selling patterns for quilts and other projects.
One of the other things I love doing the most is designing and making Memory Quilts for customers using their photos and other memorabilia.
Below I've listed some places where I will be teaching.

The Quilt Camp at Cedar Lakes
October 13-18, 2013 - Over the last several years I have been teaching at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, WV at was once called Zepora's Quilting Seminar. The name has changed to The Quilt Camp at Cedar Lakes and is now organized by Peg Bingham. I have included the link to this site because it is a wonderful retreat with lots of great teachers, and the best part is that it is not too expensive for a week's worth of learning, quilting comaraderie and fun!
Before becoming a teacher here I had attended it as a student for about 12 years, so each year I get to see returning quilters from all over the US. Plus it's during the fall and the leaves are just starting to turn. It's a beautiful drive over to it.
This year I will be teaching the Winner's Bouquet for two days, and the Hunter's Star for two days. You can see descriptions on my Workshop Information page.
